London is one of Europe’s most vibrant capital cities. With a riveting history and countless renowned traditions, London boasts an impressive cultural life, encouraging creativity and innovation. As one of the world’s main financial hubs, London has been heralded as the World’s Most Influential City of 2014 by Forbes Magazine for its vast media and advertising sector and impressive start-up culture.
Participants will enjoy the atmosphere of traditional British pubs, sipping tea at some of London’s famous tea rooms, and exploring the many landmarks and sites of the city: Big Ben, the Tower of London, the Globe Theatre, Buckingham Palace, and the London Eye.
The Armenian community in London acts as a dedicated host as participants are invited to events organized by AGBU program alumni, the AGBU London Young Professionals and the local chapter. Some notable activities include mentorship meetings and leadership talks with well-established businessmen and leading professionals. In the past, participants have had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Vartkess Knadjian, CEO of the world’s oldest diamond company Backes & Strauss, engage in roundtable discussions with notable community members, and invest in tours of Google and Facebook headquarters in London.
Weekends are filled with discovery with planned visits to the National Gallery and the British Museum, yet just walking the city is an experience. London remains a history-buff’s dream with every street corner rich with facts from medieval times to the modern era. Of course, equally entertaining is the unparalleled theater culture in the West End. The cohort also enjoys organized excursions to Oxford, Manchester, and Brighton.
All participants stay in apartment-style rooms at the International Students House located near Regent’s Park, steps away from the Sherlock Holmes Museum, Madame Tussaud’s and the Planetarium.
Accommodation features include shared suites (2 people per room), a communal kitchen & sitting area, a semi-private bathroom, Wi-Fi and 24/7 building security.
